Final major project

These piece were created for my final major project for foundation year. I looked into different types of Asian ceramics but after seeing it uses mainly neutral colours I wanted to also combine bright, vivid colour  with the use of negative space.

These pieces were created by having a flat piece of clay and wrapping it around a cylinder model. Once fired and glazed I used alcohol ink to create these patterns and colours by wrapping it around the pieces with cling film and dried for 24 hours. once it was dry and the cling film was taken off it left these patterns. This technique also allowed the colours to flow together really nicely.
I created a set of hand crafted vases which are hand rolled and hand wrapped which applies the layered effect where the two ends join together and adds a curve to the point to add more dimension. These piece can be used individually or be pair with the free formed stands.
These are the free form bases that are rolled out and curved on sponges to get the natural flow look overall. These pieces are also multifunctional to be paired with the vases or be used to store small or individual objects.
